Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic pledge to take action on Dementia


Two countries in Latin America and the Caribbean – Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic – have committed to take action on dementia through the Global Dementia Framework.

Costa Rica has committed: to put into action its National Dementia Plan; develop programs to defend the rights of people with dementia; reduce the risk of dementia.

The Dominican Republic has committed to: endorse and support the search for a cure or disease modifying treatment; include carers of people with dementia in care plans and strategies for dementia; work with the church, to create an educational program to fight the stigma associated with dementia; work on a risk reduction campaign.
