Almost 120 future leaders in the field of dementia from Canada, Japan, the US and Europe made pledges to the Global Framework under the themes of Leadership, Cure, Care and Research.
The young leaders bring together a variety of different sectors of experience and expertise; which is resulting in some exciting innovative goals, including development of an international symbol for dementia-friendly products, a cross-disciplinary challenge prize, and the creative use of mobile technologies to improve access to care at home.
The young leaders met at a series of interactive workshops organised by the UK Science and Innovation Network to develop creative and innovative ideas to support the legacy of the 2013 UK G8 Summit and the ongoing work of the World Dementia Council. These events gave emerging leaders in the field the opportunity to discuss the key issues.
Representatives from each of the four events are attending the WHO Ministerial Conference to present their recommendations to leading world experts and decision-makers, and to confirm the young leaders network as a key player in the global fight against dementia.
